***THIS IS A 12-MONTH POSITION***
Responsibilities: The Secretary will provide clerical support in a manner that is professional, diplomatic, and complies with confidentiality requirements. Establish an office environment for staff, students, and parents that is efficient, professional and friendly.
Essential Functions:
1. Types a variety of material, such as letters, student records, reports, memos, monthly statements, from rough drafts, corrected copies, or dictation.
2. Obtain and organize pertinent data into a usable format, as needed.
3. Perform secretarial duties including typing, preparing mail, scheduling appointments, reserve rooms as necessary, respond to department telephone calls and prioritize messages.
4. Perform bookkeeping tasks, prepare and maintain school budget.
5. Maintain schedule of appointments and make arrangements for conferences and interviews.
6. Utilize eSchool for enrollment, attendance, and records.
7. Greet and assist visitors; screen unexpected callers requesting to meet or speak with the building principal.
8. Maintain log of visitors to the school and enforce security and emergency management procedures.
9. Maintain daily teachers’ attendance log and records for substitute teachers.
10. Maintain and update confidential student records.
11. Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials as requested.
12. Provide basic first aid in the absence of the school nurse.
13. Acts as liaison between employees, parents, students, members of the community and principal. 14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) years experience as a secretary necessary, preferably in public education.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Computer Knowledge (MS Office; Word, Excel).
- Keyboarding and typing skills.
- Organized with time management skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
- Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
- Some bending, stooping and twisting of the body required
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 10 lbs.
- Ability to mostly sit with some standing or walking/moving throughout the work environment

Compensation:
This position's salary is determined by the collective bargaining plan for Support Staff. The starting salary for this role is $22.28/hour. After the completion of the 90-day probationary period, this position is eligible for a raise to bring the salary to $22.98/hour. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
